How we plan a bathroom with you.
These are the things we work through before any tile is ordered.
Layout
Where the toilet, shower, tub and vanity go decides how the room works and how much plumbing moves. Keeping drains where they are saves money, and moving them is sometimes worth it.
The shower
Curbless entries, benches, niches and the right glass, with the waterproofing behind the tile done properly, because that is the part you never see.
Storage
Vanity drawers, a linen cabinet, recessed cabinets and niches, planned so the counters stay clear.
Light and air
Layered lighting at the mirror, an exhaust fan that really clears the steam, and natural light wherever the room allows it.
Comfort
Heated floors, a towel warmer and fixtures chosen for how you use the room every day.

Design
Our designers plan the layout and draw the shower, vanity and storage with you.
Selections at the Showroom
Choose tile, fixtures, vanity finishes and lighting in person at the Kay2 Showroom and Design Centre in SE Calgary.
Guaranteed price and permits
Once the design is done you get a guaranteed price before you sign a construction contract, and Kay2 takes care of the permits.
Build and walkthrough
A project manager and a project coordinator stay with you through construction, usually 4 to 7 weeks for an ensuite. If we find a surprise behind the wall, we show you and get a change order signed before we do the work.

What to know about bathroom renovations in Calgary
Many Calgary homes from the 1990s and 2000s have the same ensuite, with a corner jetted tub, a small shower and builder-grade tile. Taking out the tub to make room for a large walk-in shower is a popular change, and so is adding a second sink.
Calgary's hard water leaves scale on glass and fixtures, and the dry winter air is hard on wood vanities, so finishes need to suit both. New or moved plumbing and new electrical work need City of Calgary permits, which Kay2 takes care of.

Yes. A tub to shower conversion typically costs $10,000 to $22,000 in Calgary. A curbless shower needs the floor recessed or built up so water drains properly, which we plan in the design.
Do I need a permit for a bathroom renovation in Calgary?
Replacing fixtures in the same place usually does not need a building permit, but new or moved plumbing and new electrical work need trade permits. Kay2 takes care of them.
