Custom home gyms in Calgary

Private training rooms with recovery built in.

When it's minus 25 in Calgary, a home gym only gets used if it's a room you want to be in. That means light, air, a floor that handles dropped weights and space laid out around your training, not leftover basement square footage.

Kay2 builds gyms with structural and impact-rated flooring, ventilation and sound control, and often pairs them with a sauna, steam shower or change room so recovery happens in the same space.

What's included

  • Structural and impact-rated flooring
  • Mirror walls and equipment layouts
  • Ventilation and cooling
  • Sound control for lower-level gyms
  • Saunas, steam showers and change rooms
  • Storage and media integration

Home gyms in Calgary: what to know

Through a Calgary winter, a home gym saves the drive to a club on icy roads. Most are built in basements or over garages, so flooring, structure and sound control need careful planning.

Kay2 designs Calgary home gyms with impact-rated floors, fresh-air ventilation for the dry climate and recovery rooms such as saunas and steam showers, built and permitted as part of your renovation.

Why build it with Kay2

Why Calgary homeowners choose Kay2 for home gyms.

The concerns we hear most are budget creep, timelines slipping and nobody taking ownership. This is how we prevent them.

FAQ

Home Gyms in Calgary: your questions answered

Can't see your question? Call 403.273.2202 or send us your project.

Do I need a permit to build a home gym in Calgary?

If the work includes new walls, plumbing for a steam shower, electrical or structural changes, a City of Calgary permit is usually required. Kay2 confirms what your design needs and manages the applications.

What flooring is best for a home gym?

Rubber flooring over a suitable subfloor is common for weight areas, sometimes with a platform for heavy lifts. We specify it around your equipment and training.

Can a basement gym be soundproofed?

Sound and vibration can be reduced significantly with the right floor and ceiling assemblies, which we design before construction.

Can you add a sauna or steam shower to a home gym?

Yes. Saunas, steam showers and change rooms are often part of Kay2 gym designs, with the waterproofing and ventilation they need.
