Who is responsible
Kay2 Contracting Ltd., 3336 47 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2B 2W1, is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Our Privacy Officer answers questions and requests about it. You can reach the Privacy Officer at office@kay2.ca or 403.273.2202.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to respond to you and to plan, price and build your project:
- Contact details you give us, such as your name, email address, phone number and the address of the home you want to renovate.
- Project details, such as the type of work, rooms, budget range, timing, design preferences, drawings and photos of your home.
- Information from consultations, showroom visits, estimates and contracts, including selections, change orders, payments and warranty requests.
- Requests from organizations, such as sponsorship requests and the contact details of the person making them.
- Basic technical information that every web server records when a page is requested, such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request. Our forms also record the page you submitted from and limit repeated submissions from the same IP address to stop spam.
How we collect it
- Through the forms on this website, including the consultation planner, showroom visit request, sponsorship request and the free cost guide download.
- When you call, email, message us on social media or visit the showroom.
- During your project, from you and, with your knowledge, from the designers, engineers, inspectors, suppliers and trades who work on it.
How we use it
- To answer your questions and send you the guide or information you asked for.
- To book consultations and showroom appointments.
- To prepare designs, estimates, contracts and permit applications.
- To plan, build, inspect and warranty your project, and to keep you updated as it progresses.
- To invoice, collect payment and keep the records the law requires.
- To send occasional emails about renovation planning, guides and Kay2 news, but only if you have agreed to receive them.
- To improve our website and services, and to protect our website and business against fraud and spam.
Consent
By submitting a form, calling or emailing us, you consent to us using your information to respond to you and for the related purposes above. Where we need it, we ask for your express consent, for example before sending you marketing emails or showing photos of your home.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting our Privacy Officer, subject to legal or contractual limits. If you withdraw consent, we may no longer be able to provide some services, and we will explain what that means.
Email updates (CASL)
We only send marketing emails to people who have opted in, or where Canadian anti-spam law otherwise allows it. Every marketing email identifies Kay2 and includes a way to unsubscribe. We act on unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. Messages about an active project, an estimate or a warranty are not marketing, and we will continue to send them while they are needed.
Photos of your home
We photograph our work. We only publish photos of the inside or outside of your home on our website, social media, award entries or marketing with your permission. We do not publish street addresses. We do not publish photos that show you or your family unless you have given us express permission. You can ask us to remove photos of your home at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only as needed:
- With the designers, engineers, suppliers and trades working on your project, limited to what they need to do their part.
- With the City of Calgary or other authorities when applying for permits and inspections, and with utilities or warranty providers where your project requires it.
- With service providers who support our business, such as website hosting, email delivery for our website forms, cloud storage, accounting and payment processing. They must protect the information and use it only to provide their services to us.
- With award programs, such as BILD Calgary Region or CHBA, when we enter a project, and only with your permission.
- When the law requires or permits it, or to protect our rights, property or safety.
- If our business is sold or reorganized, with the buyer, who must protect your information under this policy.
Service providers outside Canada
Some of our service providers, such as website hosting, email, cloud storage and video platforms, may store or process personal information outside Canada, including in the United States and Europe. When they do, the information may be accessed by courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of those countries under their laws. To ask about our policies and practices for service providers outside Canada, contact our Privacy Officer.
Cookies and third-party content
This website does not use advertising cookies, analytics or tracking pixels, and it does not set its own cookies.
Some pages use content from other companies, which handle your information under their own privacy policies:
- Videos play from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode. The YouTube player only loads when you choose to play a video, and YouTube may then set cookies.
- Links to Google Maps, Google reviews, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, Houzz, HomeStars and other websites take you to sites we do not control.
How we protect it
We protect personal information with reasonable security for its sensitivity. This includes encrypted (HTTPS) connections to our website, form submissions stored outside the public website folder, password-protected accounts, and access limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive information such as banking details through our website forms.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as it is reasonably needed for business or legal purposes. Because we stand behind our work and many clients come back to us for future projects, warranty service and records of what was built in their home, we keep enquiry, project, contract and warranty records on file over the long term and do not delete them on a fixed schedule.
If you would like us to delete information we no longer need for legal, tax, warranty or contract purposes, contact our Privacy Officer and we will review your request.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, how we have used it and who we have shared it with. You can also ask us to correct it. Send your request in writing to our Privacy Officer. We will respond within 45 days, as PIPA requires, or tell you if we need more time and why. In some cases, the law allows or requires us to refuse access. If so, we will explain why.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca).
Children
Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website.
