Bankview, SW Calgary
An inner-city home opened up and brightened, with a two-tone island kitchen, a fireside dining room and a primary suite that looks out over downtown.
Bankview sits on the hill above the Beltline, and this renovation was designed to make the most of it. The main floor now flows as one light-filled space, from the kitchen through the dining room to the living area, tied together by pale wide-plank floors and clean white walls.
The kitchen balances crisp white upper cabinets with warm wood-grain lowers. A long quartz island seats three, under-cabinet lighting washes the white tile backsplash, and open shelving and stainless appliances keep it practical as well as calm.
The dining room gathers around a white-mantel fireplace. Beyond it, a double-height entry with sculptural pendant lights and a stair with glass panels lead to the upper floor.
Upstairs, the primary bedroom frames a view of the downtown skyline. Its ensuite has a frameless glass walk-in shower with a built-in bench, floor-to-ceiling marble-look tile and matte black fixtures. The renovation was a finalist for Best Home Renovation (Without Addition) at the 2022 BILD Calgary Region Awards.
